Chariots of Fire (1981)

This is the story of two men who run, not to run, but to prove something to the world. They will sacrifice anything to achieve their goals... except their honor.

Chariots of Fire is a movie starring Ben Cross, Ian Charleson, and Nicholas Farrell. Two British track athletes, one a determined Jew, and the other a devout Christian, compete in the 1924 Olympics.
It is a serious presentations, stories with settings and life situations that portray realistic characters in conflict with themselves. It shows us beings at their best, their worst, and everything in-between. It dramatizes the life, comprehensively tells a life story or at least the most historically important years. Sport is prominently featured, but is not the central concern of the film, it performs primarily an allegorical role.
In the class-obsessed and religiously divided UK of the early 1920s, two determined young runners train for the 1924 Paris Olympics. Eric Liddell, a devout Christian born to Scottish missionaries in China, sees running as part of his worship of God's glory and refuses to train or compete on the Sabbath. Harold Abrahams overcomes anti-Semitism and class bias, but neglects his beloved sweetheart in his single-minded quest.
