In the world of yokai, Nekomeko-ko is born once every 300 years as the child of a nekomata. However, because he was born in the likeness of a human, his father was killed in anger by the yokai, and Nekomeko-ko was abandoned by the yokai. Nekomekomata travels around the world exterminating specters in search of his mother, whom he has not yet seen.
